Joint Summer Meeting, North Central Division of AFS

The Joint Summer Meeting of the American Fisheries Society's Centrarchid Technical Committee, Esocid Technical Committee, and the Walleye Technical Committee will be held at McQuoids Inn, Isle, Minnesota, from July 18-20, 2017. A workshop entitled “Managing Walleye fisheries under adversity and change: A case history of Mille Lacs” will be held Tuesday, July 18th. The Joint Meeting will include a BBQ social Tuesday evening, a full day of presentations on Wednesday, a dinner social Wednesday evening, and a half day of presentations/business meetings on Thursday.

2017 Desert Tortoise Council Symposium

The 42nd Annual Symposium of the Desert Tortoise Council is scheduled for February 24–26, 2017 at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Desert Tortoise Council is a private, non-profit organization comprised of hundreds of professionals and laypersons who share a common concern for desert tortoises in the wild and a commitment to advancing the public’s understanding of the species.

 

The 2017 Program will have sessions on renewable energy development and tortoise translocation, the latest research on deer in the arid Southwest, the Sonoran desert tortoise, the evolution of Gopherus and other topics.

The joint summer meeting of the American Fisheries Society's Centrarchid Technical Committee, Esocid Technical Committee, and the Walleye Technical Committee will be held at the Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium (Nebraska's state aquarium), Gretna, Nebraska, on July 26-28, 2016. One of the workshops will be featuring the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fishes Recovery Program.
