Pay Grade 20
Salary Range: 33,142 - 47,681
Location: Phoenix based

Description of Duties: Plans, organizes, conducts, coordinates and analyzes complex management
and conservation field and laboratory studies; sets priorities and provides technical guidance for
complex research projects; develops recommendations and reports on specialized surveys, habitat
evaluations, environmental inventories and other special projects; develops budget requests and
maintains fiscal oversight for the program; supervises wildlife specialists and assistants.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor=s degree in a wildlife science or a closely related field from an
accredited college or university AND three years of professional experience in wildlife research or
wildlife management. A graduate degree in a wildlife science or a closely related field from an
accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.

Preferences: The preferred applicant should be skilled in habitat and wildlife field investigations,
management and conservation techniques, and species identification and habitat requirements,
especially for amphibians and reptiles, but in general for all Arizona wildlife, plants and habitats;
scientific data collection procedures, basic statistical analysis techniques, evaluation and
interpretation of data, and computerized and manual information management systems; excellent
verbal and written communications, public relations techniques, problem-solving and promoting
positive interpersonal relationships within and outside the work group; project planning,
organization and execution and time management, and supervision and leadership; and game and
fish environmental laws, regulations, policies and procedures; and topographic map interpretation
and use.
