POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE: RESEARCH TRAINING GROUP IN THE ANALYSIS OF BIOLOGICAL DIVERSIFICATION, UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA

A coalition of faculty members from the Departments of Ecology &
Evolutionary Biology, Geosciences, Molecular & Cellular Biology,
Biochemistry, Entomology, and PlantSciences, and the Divisions of
Neurobiology and Biotechnology is continuing a Research Training Group
inthe Analysis of Biological Diversification, with funding from the
National Science Foundation and the University ofArizona. Postdoctoral
Fellowships for up to two years are available to pursue innovative research
projects that integratedisparate approaches to biological diversification,
including molecular biology, organismal biology, systematics,
ecology, paleobiology, developmental biology or population genetics.
Our goal is to encourage persons with training in any of these
areas to cross the boundaries of traditional disciplines, and inparticular
to use phylogeny or other historical frameworks to understanding patterns
of diversity of life and evolutionaryprocesses. RTG postdoctoral fellows
will participate in training activities of the RTG program, such as
discussion groupsand workshops, and individual tutorials for graduate and
undergraduate trainees, and will give occasional lectures in RTGcourses.
Send Curriculum Vitae, statement (5 page limit including figures
and references) of research project that demonstratesconnections to the RTG
Program, and three letters of recommendation to RTG in The Analysis of
Biological Diversification, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology,
University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ85721. Additional information about this
program can be accessed at the RTG home page
http://eebweb.arizona.edu/RTG/rtg.html, or at the above address.
Applications should be received by January 15, 1997.Fellowships are
limited to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The University of Arizona,
an equalopportunity/affirmative action/ADA employer, encourages
applications from women and members of under representedminority groups.
