Fisheries Biologist - Biscayne National Park
Biscayne National Park in Homestead, FL is seeking to hire a Fishery Biologist. The position will be a GS-9/11, with a salary range from $44,985 to $58,486 per year. This position is located in the Resource Management Division. The incumbent serves as a Fishery Biologist and program manager responsible for the coordination and oversight of the fisheries, wildlife, and integrated pest management programs of Biscayne National Park This position requires knowledge of subtropical, tropical, South Atlantic/Caribbean finfish and shellfish populations (including their life history and habitat requirements), interaction with other cooperating agencies, and contributing to the development of recommendations and strategies necessary to protect park natural resources. Two Fish Positions at VIMS
The Department of Fisheries Science (Virginia Institute of Marine Science) is seeking candidates for two tenure-track positions: ichthyology and fish ecology. We will make appointments at the level of assistant professor. A Ph.D. in ichthyology, vertebrate systematics and evolution, fish ecology, vertebrate ecology or a related field is required and postdoctoral research experience is preferred. For the ichthyology position, we seek candidates with expertise in taxonomy/systematics of teleosts and collection-based research that combines morphological and molecular approaches. For the fish ecology position, we seek individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: life history and ecology of fishes; quantitative fisheries ecology; survey-based assessment of elasmobranch abundance and diversity. The successful candidates will conduct externally funded research, teach graduate-level courses, mentor graduate students, and provide advice to management agencies. Postdoctoral Position USF
The Department of Biology at the University of South Florida invites applications for a post-doctoral position to conduct genetic research on the sand skink [Plestiodon (Neoseps) reynoldsi] to work with Drs. Henry Mushinsky and Earl McCoy. The possibility exists that the selected individuals will have the opportunity to teach an upper level course in their specialty, if so desired. We are seeking a colleague who will use molecular techniques to understand the population structure and dispersal capabilities of the sand skink. The genetic post-doc will work closely with an ecology post-doc (already on board), a Ph.D student and the two PIs. Salary is $36,000 per year plus full benefits.
